Kathryn "Kathy" Podgers is a 2007 candidate for Cambridge City Council. She is a passionate advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and for the environment. She refuses to accept the denial of rights which others enjoy, and demands accountability for the violations by the city government of city, state and US laws which protect persons with disabilities. On Saturday August 4, 2007, while inspecting the police log of incidents at the Cambridge Police station a police dog attacked Podger's service dog. The police did nothing to stop the attack. They made no record of it.
On a previous occasion the Police Commissioner, the City Attorney and a City Councilor threatened her with arrest as she attended a City Council meeting. There are other events which she describes briefly here. Few people recognize police harassing a person who wants to run for office as a problem. This is a serious offense about which few people in Cambridge want to know. This clip is from the August 12, 2007 Cambridge Cable Access (CCTV) TV show "Cambridge Environment" hosted by Robert LaTremouille on Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM.

Thanks to all those who speak out against discriminatory acts on behalf of people with disabilities. This takes courage, persistence and a strong personal fortitude to keep on keeping on, as witness others who speak out against discrimination of any group in society know.
