Enthusiasm At Harvard University's Arts First Festival

The enthusiasm at Harvard University's Arts First Festival led some driver to mow down some city street signs and a parking meter. The driver may have been unable to pay the require fees so like Cool Hand Luke he knocked off the meter at Quincy Street and Harvard Street. On Saturday April 27, 2013 the day before these images were captured and posted, film star Matt Damon walked along Quincy Street after receiving a university award. I saw some paparazzi chasing the Damon. Was it one of them? The next day City employees removed the broken signs and meter, and replaced the pole for a new sign.

Is this the work of Cool Hand Luke?

MBTA Signs Inspire

Shortly after the April 15, 2103 Marathon bombing in Boston MA, the MBTA buses began displaying two signs to inspire the population to recover after the atrocity. One is "WE ARE ONE BOSTON." The other is "BOSTON STRONG." Forgive me but it does not inspire me. The signs made me think about George Orwell's book, 1984. The government broadcasts propaganda to a dumbed down population which cheers the propaganda. What makes this a matter of concern is that Massachusetts has more colleges in a 25 mile radius than any other place on earth. The City of Cambridge has one of the highest concentration of educated people (having a BA degree or more) than any other US city.

But no one measures how many of the citizens and undocumented Democrats willingly obey authority figures. That seems to be pervasive among this highly educated population. The limousine liberals who run the government and propaganda mechanisms in Massachusetts promote "diversity" as the highest form of moral thought. Diversity in Massachusetts seems to be uniformity of thought. Harvard elitists promote intolerance in the name of tolerance.

For one 24-hour period after the bombing the Harvard College educated Governor issued a "request" that civilians "Shelter in Place." This was a request by police through the Harvard Law School trained Governor to stay indoors, house arrest. It was not a decree with the power of law.

It was a request. But the streets cleared. Only a few courageous people ventured out during that 24 hour period. Later propaganda broadcast an explanation. The purpose was to keep people safe, and to allow the police (and FBI, ATF, Homeland Security, US Marshals, Harvard University Campus Police, Lincoln, Lexington, Brookline, Boston, Cambridge, Everett, Billerica, Watertown, Waltham, Massachusetts State police departments, and National Guard) to continue their search for the remaining fugitive suspect.  It made sense if you believe in security over freedom. But was it necessary to be applied as it was to seven cities and towns?  The 19-year-old fugitive was hiding in a boat in Watertown.

Sign Posted By Syrian Civilians After Boston Marathon Bombing

Where is the strength in hiding in one's home? Where is the strength in obeying a Governor who tried to establish Martial Law to search for one suspect? Baghdad is a city under siege for ten years. Bombs and shootings every day. Do people shelter in place in Bagdad? Young people in Syria posted a photo of a sign expressing condolences to the people of Boston adding this is what they have every day. They are out in the streets fighting for the freedom which Americans enjoy by birth. That is strength.

A Harvard University Shuttle Bus Displays the Same Signs.

The other sign is more deceptive than the first. "WE ARE ONE BOSTON" suggests the opposite of what is promoted by the elitist propagandists in Massachusetts. They promote diversity, identifying the differences among the population. There are Gay and Lesbian, Transgendered, Bisexual Organizations and taxpayer funded agencies. The black history lobby dominates the diversity industry. Muslim anti discrimination lobby demands recognition of Sharia Law in many jurisdictions. The Women's interest groups are everywhere. Undocumented Democrats have their interests well represented in Massachusetts state and local governments. "We Are Many" is a more accurate description of what Boston is. The current political propagandists turned the motto of the nation upside down to "E Unus Pluribum."

Stove, No Electricity, Needed to Charge Cell Phone

VOTO is not the first device to link stoves and cell phones, according to popular science news site popsci.com.
One camp stove that turns waste heat into electrical energy is already on the market.
The VOTO device, by comparison, allows its user to insert the fuel cell directly in the fire of a stove someone already has burning.

Tufts University Jazz Orchestra, Mambo!

Joel LaRue is the Director of the Tufts University Jazz Orchestra. On April 25, 2013 the orchestra performed a concert in the Goddard Chapel on campus. The Andrew Summerfield Septet performed three songs before the main concert. Cole Porter's Love For Sale; Roy Hargrove's Bop Drop; and Sam Cooke's Bring It On Home. It was a great preparation for the main course.

Vocalists Alexandra Wollum, and Marja Ritchie joined the performance. Here are some images captured at the concert. These students deserve praise for their dedication and the quality of the presentation. Apologies for the less than stellar quality of the images. The lighting was not the best.

Watertown MA Police Action Violated Fourth Amendment

Marjory Decker, Cambridge City Councilor and State Representative at the Cambridge City Council meeting April 22, 2013 recognized the importance of "a hug" giggling as she said it. She reported what her in-laws told her about the action in Watertown.

"One of my husband's aunts said she was so incredibly touched that, um, a lot of people came in with the wedding on Saturday, (giggle) but they were so touched that the determination of the, um, the FBI and the Task Force and all the police that were just, that came in, to the neighborhood, this was before we sort of knew what was going on, and they looked out their windows and realized something serious was happening, and the, um, the SWAT teams came into the house, and were so determined and so comforting, people, they, they felt so incredibly safe. And they also felt cared for. So in this incredibly intense moment of not knowing what's gonna happening, and knowing the danger that has already occurred, and, and that could occur, um, the determination of, we are here to help you, we are here to keep you safe, and, and literally the physical care of getting people out of houses to insure that, um, they weren't going to be stepping on anything that they didn't know that could be harmful. I mean, it just, but at the same time, the, the law enforcement were so gentle and sensitive with them as they moved them out, um, both in their words, and in their physical actions. For me it's just really, it, it's, . . . ah, I don't think we really appreciate who is, um, who makes up our first responders, and, and, what it is that they bring to this job, and, um, in so many ways. So, um, I, I'm just, I'm really happy to be part of this community, and we will be a community that grieves together and heals together."

Police perform house-to-house raids in Watertown MA ripping innocent families from their homes

Published on Apr 20, 2013
WATERTOWN, MA -- On Friday, April 19, 2013, during a manhunt for a bombing suspect, police and federal agents spent the day storming people's homes and performing illegal searches. While it was unclear initially if the home searches were voluntary, it is now crystal clear that they were absolutely NOT voluntary. Police were filmed ripping people from their homes at gunpoint, marching the residents out with their hands raised in submission, and then storming the homes to perform their illegal searches.

Politics of Dancing Re-Flex

Uploaded on Mar 8, 2008
Groovy!

"The Politics of Dancing" is a hit song by the British New Wave/synthpop band Re-Flex, released in 1983. It is the title track of their only released album.

It became the biggest hit of their career, peaking at #28 in the United Kingdom and #24 in the United States. The band managed to chart two more singles in the UK, but only managed to get one more single in the US. This song remains their signature song but makes Re-Flex considered as a one-hit wonder because of this song's massive popularity and the group's unpopular run of follow-up singles.

Quick Silver Dance Company gave a concert, Rites of Passage, at MIT's Simmons Hall (known as "The Sponge"). The event was part of the annual Cambridge Science Festival. The connection to science is the portrayal of evolution in dance.

Eight dancers performed interpretations of classical paintings, advertisements and evolution. Revealing my musical tastes and how old I am my favorite was Frankie Sings, We Dance. . .Ok, Pop? It's a video of Mariah Steel and Virginia Byron dancing around the MIT campus to Sinatra singing "All Or Nothing At All." In a classroom, outside on the grassy malls of MIT, inside the infinite corridor at MIT, and on the steps of Stata Hall.

Frankie Sings, We Dance... OK, Pop? from Mariah Steele on Vimeo.

Epoch Tales exhibited movement of water animals. PBS in Boston, WGBH is showing in April 2013, a four part series Australia's First 4 Billion Years: Awakening. Some parts of this dance piece reminded me of the ancient animals shown in that feature -- how they moved in water and on land. The dancers did not show attacks on and devouring of smaller animals by larger ones that happens in real life. Perhaps that aspect was omitted due to the graduate thesis of Mariah Steele, about "using dance in peacebuilding." It was more of how the animals inspected each other, and mated during their travels in the water. Movement of sports teams can also be seen.

Art | Facts was part video showing advertisements accompanied by music and performances by Amy Caine, Jennifer Roberts and Nicole Sao Pedro-Welch. The humorous text written and read by Mariah Steele was humorous and got many laughs for the audience.

Peregrine (2005) is described as a following "a young woman's journey of self-discovery in relationship to those around her." Dancers, Hans Rinderknecht and Mariah Steele show differing degrees of success in doing and being with another.

Festivals and Visions (Part II - Premiere) shows how people lived and played in early 20th Century Spain. A full length (14 sections) production of this piece will be shown in July 2013.
