Cambridge, JP Harvest Co-op Meeting August 28, 2012

The Cambridge-Jamaica Plain Harvest Co-Op stores had an open meeting on August 28, 2012 at the main Cambridge Public Library. Visioning and Update on Stores, the focus, was held to allow members to express their desires and concerns about the move to a new facility in Central Square. About 40 people attended the opening remarks by Christina Lively, President of the Co-Op and the outline for the meeting by Chris Durkin. There were six working groups to permit detailed questions. Offices for the Co-op are now at 1035 Cambridge Street in Cambridge. The new store will be at 580 Mass Avenue across the street from its previous location which closed earlier in August 2012. The Co-op was created in 1973. It now has about 140 members from Jamaica Plain and about 40 from Cambridge. One person noted that most of the people attending this meeting were older. Is this freely expressed ageism in Cambridge?
