Geese Still Standing

Three years ago some local and state officials began a construction project which would displace the white geese near the Boston University Bridge. In March 2012 the geese are still standing on their nesting area.

Living dangerously, resting on the CSX Tracks.

BU Bridge Rehab Hearing

The Cambridge MA Conservation Commission held a hearing on the rehabilitation of the Boston University Bridge on Monday November 17, 2008. The proponent, the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation did not mention the gaggle of white geese who make the meadow aside the BU Bridge their home for 20 years. Nor did they mention any of the other wildlife that occupies that habitat. Cambridge citizens spoke up for the rabbits, geese and other birds.

Charles River White Geese June 16, 2007

As the sun set over Cambridge MA The geese still run around their nesting area while they can. I noticed one man and a woman go into the goose meadow and disappear in the trees while I was there. I do not know what they were doing there.
On Monday June 18, 2007 Cambridge City Councilor Craig Kelley introduced a policy order # 15 "That the City manger work with the owners of the Grand Junction Railroad to provide an appropriate level of policing for the Railroad Tracks and report back to the City Council on this matter."
That location was the site of several geese being murdered. A woman was raped and murdered there.
