NFL Star Suspended For Punching Out His Wife

[From article]
Once they get on, Janay Palmer — who is now Rice’s wife — keeps her head down and doesn’t say a word, but the New Rochelle native’s intimidation tactics continue. The elevator doors don’t even get a chance to close before Rice jumps in his future wife’s face two more times and follows up with a quick swipe with his left hand, but it doesn’t appear to fully connect. When Palmer appears to stand up to him, Rice throws a pulverizing left punch which drops her head on the elevator hand rail — knocking her out cold.

Sad scenes were witnessed during Lille's pre-season friendly with Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday.
The match was interrupted in the 84th minute when a group of male fans stormed the pitch holding Palestinian flags waving in the air.
The footage showed a coming together between one Haifa player and one of the pitch invaders, and within seconds the trespassers were involved in a ruckus with the Israeli footballers.
It's worth pointing out that Maccabi Haifa has a long history of having Muslim and Arab players in their side, with the likes of Taleb Tawatha, Mohammadou Idrissou, Weaam Amasha, Ataa Jaber, Mohammed Kalibat, Ismaeel Ryan all currently on the club's books.

Professional Hockey Player Charged With Beating Girlfriend

[From article]
She described in court how her six-foot-two, 209-pound goalie boyfriend kicked her in the chest and stomped on her as she lay on the ground, before he dragged her by her hair from their bedroom in the early hours of the morning on October 30.
‘He was having fun, he was laughing,’ said the model. ‘He has no concept of when to stop drinking, and when he drinks he turns into an animal.’
She pointed to her chest, arms, stomach, neck and head - places she said she are bruised. She also said he kicked her out of the apartment, reports The Denver Post.
Vavrinyuk admitted it wasn't the first time that her boyfriend had hurt her, but throwing her out on the street was ‘the final straw.’

So she was OK with getting beat up by her boyfriend. It was only after he threw her out of the apartment that she would not tolerate getting beat up, and went to the police.

Professional Fighters Thwart Los Angeles Hotel Armed Robbery

Los Angeles: On November 2, 2011, at around 11:40 p.m., Rampart Division officers responded to a radio call of an "Assault suspect armed with a gun" at a hotel located in the 300 block of
N. Vermont Avenue. When the officer's arrived, they saw a man on the ground being held by two citizens.

Shortly before police arrived, the desk clerk at a local hotel took notice of a man with a back pack who walked into the lobby and began to suspiciously look around. He asked the clerk about the price of a room, and then pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The suspect walked around the counter where the clerk stood and told him to open the cash register. The clerk, fearing he was going to be shot, opened the register and gave the suspect money.

During the robbery, an elevator door opened, and two hotel guests who happened to be martial arts experts visiting Los Angeles from Oregon for a martial arts' tournament heard the clerk's cry for help and immediately took action. The pair grabbed the suspect who was holding a gun in his right hand. During the tussle with the suspect, the Good Samaritans repeatedly asked him to drop the gun and stop struggling. The pair was finally able to wrestle the gun from the suspect and took him to the ground with a leg sweep and then held him on the ground until Rampart Division officers arrived.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Luis Rosales, a resident of Los Angeles, was taken into custody without further incident. In addition, a loaded 9mm handgun and the money taken from the cash register were found inside Rosales' backpack. Rosales was booked for armed robbery with a firearm. His bail is set at $101,250.
