State troopers and St. Louis city and county officers warned the roughly 150 demonstrators who gathered to stay out of the road as they protested last month's shooting of Michael Brown, a black, unarmed 18-year-old, by a white officer. There were nearly as many officers as demonstrators.
Organizers said the protest in Berkeley was designed as an act of nonviolent civil disobedience similar to a 1999 demonstration in the same location. During that protest, hundreds of people shut down the interstate in a dispute over minority hiring for road construction projects.

Wednesday's protest near Ferguson followed a tense meeting of the city's elected leaders Tuesday night. The Ferguson City Council held its first meeting since Brown was killed, hoping to use the gathering as a chance to promote community healing. Instead they were met with anger and warnings from constituents that council members would be voted out of office.
The protesters' chief demand both Tuesday and Wednesday was for the arrest of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, whom some witnesses say shot Brown while his hands were raised. They also want St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch, the son of a police officer killed in the line of duty, to step down over concerns that he can't impartially judge the evidence.

The protesters ran into a police barricade line at 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue. Some tried to push up against the officers, but the officers held their own, CBS 2’s Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.
The protesters then moved on to nearby Father Duffy Square before heading back to Union Square.

For 40 years local police, crime families, Communists and FBI informants took turns harassing the man. Currently Harvard University employees cover the summer vacation period. The shooting happened just after 1pm in the West Village not far from New York University when a fugitive apprehension task force tried to serve a warrant at a shop called Smoking Culture NYC.
The store sells items including bongs, cigarettes and cigars and it is believed that Mozdir was behind the counter and working when the authorities showed up.
Two U.S. Marshals and an NYPD detective were wounded in the shooting which erupted at around 1pm today.

A $1 million bench warrant was issued for Mozdir's arrest on June 15, 2012, after he skipped an arraignment in San Diego Superior Court on child sexual assault charges, according to Steve Walker, a spokesman for the San Diego County district attorney. He had posted $250,000 bail.
Mozdir had been wanted on five counts of lewd acts upon a child younger than 14 and a charge of attempting to keep a witness from prosecuting a crime, according to the criminal complaint.
The one-time wedding photographer has been accused by a family friend of molesting her seven-year-old son while babysitting him in Coronado, near San Diego.
After he disappeared, investigators had found sickening images of child pornography and bestiality on his cell phone and computers at his home.

Mozdir allegedly molested a young boy whose parents were friends of his while he served as a babysitter in June 2012, reported CNN in The Hunt.

PBS Reveals Questionable Official Treatment of Death of Wife of FL Police Officer

This report shows how police close ranks and ignore evidence of crime, to protect one of their own. This pattern repeats even in cases of homicide as herein. The only thing that keeps some of these cases from being covered up forever is when there are determined relatives. One example of how pervasive this pattern is, is revealed in Massachusetts where the FBI allowed a gang of four, two known FBI informants,  to conduct a homicidal campaign over 30 years killing up to 60 civilians. After these abuses were exposed by a US Judge, the Department of Justice sent an investigator who found only one FBI agent responsible. No local police and no state police were found liable. To suggest that after the leader of the gang, James Bulger became a fugitive in 1995, the many drug rings and gambling rings and corrupt cops who protected them evaporated, is ludicrous. Yet that is what is implied by the failure to investigate police and the FBI. So this Frontline investigation with The New York Times is an example of the institutionalized problems with police and with government in general. The failure of journalists and taxpayers to condemn these abuses suggests that taxpayers and journalists approve the relaxed rectitude of government.

Police in Long Beach, California, say they had no choice but to open fire when Adeline Arroyo, 31, pointed BB gun at them Sunday afternoon. The weapon looked like nearly an exact replica of a Beretta semi-automatic pistol.
Despite police firing numerous shots at her and hitting her twice, Miss Arroyo is expected to survive. She is currently recovering at a local hospital in serious condition.
Her family says she has a long history of mental illness and suffers from schizophrenia. They say police never should have shot her and instead found a less violent way to subdue her.

A video provided to KABC-TV from a witness shows a dozen officers barricaded behind their squad cars, pointing guns at her from all sides.
Some have handguns, others are armed with rifles and shotguns.

'I feel the Long Beach Police Department should be more trained when they're dealing with somebody with a mental illness.'
But, the Long Beach police chief said his officers had no choice but to open fire when Miss Arroyo repeatedly refused to drop the pistol.
'If a person has a handgun and they point that in your direction, then at that point less lethal is not appropriate. You're facing a lethal threat,' Chief Jim McDonnell said.
This is the 19th person shot by officers in the city of 460,000 so far this year.
