The Berklee West African Dance Ensemble directed by Joe Galeota performs Bamaaya. Bamaaya is an ancient dance performed by Dagomba farmers of the Northern region of Ghana. Originally a men's dance Bamaaya became popular first in Tamale by Jago Morrow and soon spread throughout the country. It has five sections each with its own set of rhythms.
