President Barack Obama's adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday. Van Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly "green jobs," has been linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the Sept. 11 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans. Charle Krauthammer comments on Van Jones.
Van Jones says only white people shoot up schools.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praises Van Jones, followed by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome.
Washington Post: "I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today," Jones said in a statement dated Sept 5 released around midnight on Sept 6.

"On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide," he continued. "I have been inundated with calls -- from across the political spectrum -- urging me to 'stay and fight.' But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future."

Thank you for providing these videos. They are very informative and somewhat frightening. I'm glad this guy got chased out of the White House, but it's horrifying to think how unquestionably welcome he was in the first place and the degree to which political leaders elevated him without any scrutiny.
