Off the Record

During a discussion of the possible appointment of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State by Barack Obama, Mort Zuckerman praises it. He notes that she is qualified and reports previous activity by her with foreign leaders. He notes that she asked questions "off the record." Isn't this accepting two faces by politicians? One for their colleagues, and one for the public? Withholding information from the ordinary citizens politicians treat them like secondary class humans. The politicians prevent ordinary citizens from participating in decision making. This is elitism.
