The Danger Passed

In seven short hours after the snow stopped falling, emergency workers in Cambridge MA were able to restore access to an adult package shop, and several adult beverage lounges. Essential priorities rule.

Harvard University as usual gets an "A" for clearing the snow from their walkways through and near their property. Their workers were out with their snow plows at 8:00 AM while it was still snowing. 

Can't speak for the entire city but at about 5:30 PM on Saturday February 9, 2013 it was possible to walk from the Science Center to the Porter Square shopping center. There were some blockages where the property owners had not cleared the sidewalks, but it was only seven hours after the snow stopped. The Star Market, now called Shaw's, was open until 6:00 PM. Taggs Hardware was also open. 

My landlord, Harvard gets a "D" for not providing heat from 10:00 AM on Saturday until 5:00 PM when it was restored. Harvard's emergency communications system was not working so that the heat outage could not be reported. 


The city made sure that the snow did not cover the meters in order to ensure they could still charge for parking as soon as the emergency parking ban was lifted.

Mother Nature resumed her evening sky shows shortly after the storm left the area. 


Some of the clouds remain visible as the storm moved away. 


This is the only snowman I saw the day the storm ended. It is on Broadway near the Sackler Museum.

February 26, 2010 Snow in New York City

WNYC Radio: On February 26, 2010, a slow-moving storm is parked over the city and up to 20 inches of snow is expected by Saturday. Schools are closed and subways are running with delays on some lines. In Brooklyn, pedestrians struggle to get through the snow and homeowners shoveled their sidewalks. This is evidence that global warming is political. In Boston where moonbats rule, there was only rain, no snow.

High Tech Pedestrian Alert

After a cold spell and a storm ice began dropping on the sidewalk from buildings. In order to alert pedestrians some techie placed these devices on the sidewalk to warn civilians.

Removing Ice and Snow from Cambridge MA Sidewalks

February 11, 2008, City Council meeting. Megan Brook states the problem of ice and snow on sidewalks. Her solution is increasing fines. Speaking as the Vice President for Government and Public Affairs for the Mid Cambridge Emergency Committee to stop wasting "the greatest source of untapped energy since scientists split the atom," -- the hot wind energy given off without fail each week by Cambridge politicians -- and to use it to clear the sidewalks of snow and ice (THE SOLUTION), Roy Bercaw suggests using some of the appropriations for alcohol abuse prevention to teach people how to drive when drunk. This is a public service announcement of DDAM, Drunk Drivers Against Mothers. Bercaw says that prisoners should be trained in alternative dispute mediation services. He notes that the Neighborhood Crime Task Force of 50 members did not have any persons with disabilities. The Task Force determined that drugs is a major cause of crime, but did not discuss drugs. Order 5 violates Mass General Laws Chap. 43 Sec. 107 regarding Plan E form of Government. It carries severe penalties, prison, fines removal from office and being barred for life from holding elected office. Bercaw answers how to prevent city employees from engaging in illegal activities. He began thanking the Council for amending the Human Rights Commission ordinances omitting persons with non physical disabilities from protections. He notes that they are not whole people, only half people.
