Cambridge MA City Vehicle Promotes Kwanzaa, History

Flagstaff Park can be seen in background. Roadway is for traffic going north onto Mass Avenue, and to Garden Street or to Harvard Square. Christ Church at Zero Garden Street can be seen directly above the Kwanzaa sign.

If the media told the truth about Kwanzaa, then every right-thinking American would realize it's a fraud. Instead we get the same silly endorsement of this "African" feast that has nothing to do with Africa and everything to do with California in the 1960s.
[. . .]
Even the timing of Kwanzaa is fake. Karenga said the name "Kwanzaa" means "first fruits of the harvest." The harvest typically occurs in autumn, which is the end of the growing season. Kwanzaa is set in late December. That makes no sense if the purpose of the holiday is to commemorate harvest celebrations. But that's not the purpose. The purpose is to sow racial discord by creating a competing holiday for Christmas, one celebrated only by black people.

It's that time of year again - time to debunk Kwanzaa

In 1967, Karenga was accused of having his thugs beat up a student who asked him an impertinent question at a college forum. In 1969, US got involved in a struggle with the Black Panthers for control of the black studies program at UCLA. All involved carried guns on campus. The US guys were quicker on the draw; they killed two Panthers in a shootout at the student center.

Karenga is now a professor at California State University in Long Beach.

Unhappy Kwanzaa - the media are still falling for that fake holiday created by a felon

On December 24, 1971, the New York Times ran one of the first of many articles on a new holiday designed to foster unity among African Americans. The holiday, called Kwanzaa, was applauded by a certain sixteen-year-old minister who explained that the feast would perform the valuable service of "de-whitizing" Christmas. The minister was a nobody at the time but he would later go on to become perhaps the premier race-baiter of the twentieth century. His name was Al Sharpton and he would later spawn the Tawana Brawley hoax and then incite anti-Jewish tensions in a 1995 incident that ended with the arson deaths of seven people.
Great minds think alike. The inventor of the holiday was one of the few black "leaders" in America even worse than Sharpton. But there was no mention in the Times article of this man or of the fact that at that very moment he was sitting in a California prison. And there was no mention of the curious fact that this purported benefactor of the black people had founded an organization that in its short history tortured and murdered blacks in ways of which the Ku Klux Klan could only fantasize.

Now we know that the FBI fueled the bloody rivalry between the Panthers and United Slaves.
In one barbarous outburst, Karenga's United Slaves shot to death two Black Panthers on the UCLA campus: Al "Bunchy" Carter and John Huggins. Karenga himself served time, a useful stepping-stone for his current position as a black studies professor at California State University at Long Beach.
Karenga's invented holiday is a nutty blend of schmaltzy '60s rhetoric, black racism and Marxism. The seven principles of Kwanzaa are the very same seven principles of the Symbionese Liberation Army, another innovation of the Worst Generation.
[. . .]
he essentially said that, under Kawaida, we also hate whites.
[. . .]
Kwanzaa emerged not from Africa, but from the FBI's COINTELPRO. It is a holiday celebrated exclusively by idiot white liberals. Black people celebrate Christmas.

Cambridge Water Main Break June 4, 2011

Saturday night June 4, 2011 a 30-inch water main broke on Broadway at Trowbridge Street in Cambridge MA. These images were captured at 6:30 AM Sunday June 5, 2011, as the clean-up began. Cambridge DPW employees were still working in the large hole dug to fix the water pipe. Also on site were Cambridge Water Department, Cambridge Police, Cambridge Fire Department and Mass Water Resources Authority. The private street cleaning service was present and began cleaning the two-inch deep mud from the sidewalk in front of the Library. The walk to the library front door was covered with mud to within 50 feet of the front entrance. The levee built to stop water from flowing into the parking garage under the library held. City officials reportedly expect to restore full water pressure by noon on Sunday June 5, 2011. A week later the hole was filled in, the pipe was repaired and the sidewalk was cleaned of mud.

Sidewalk Hazard

These images show the parking area at the loading dock for CRLS (Cambridge MA public high school) on Cambridge Street. The sidewalk is currently closed from Felton Street to Irving Street due to construction. The photos were taken one day after a moderate rain storm (Saturday July 25, 2009 at about 9:00 AM). The path for the sidewalk remains under water. In the summer it is an inconvenience and may get shoes wet or wheels of strollers wet. But in winter when the water freezes as it often does at that location it becomes a hazard for pedestrians and especially for persons with disabilities who use wheel chairs. The Cambridge DPW responded to my previous note about this situation saying that it will be considered during warm weather.
