Cambridge Health Alliance Police

After voting on Tuesday November 8, 2011 I saw this Cambridge Health Alliance Patrol car driving along Cambridge Street. It was the first time I saw one of them. Mr. David Cecere spokesman for the Cambridge Health Alliance explained that they've had the cars for a while. He was unable to explain the details of what powers these offiers have. One online site masscops.com in a discussion said they were constables and become special state police officers after gaining some experience. Cecere said he would find out and get back to me.

Have all the same powers as CPD.

Special state police empowered by statute to enforce state laws on their property only. Not empowered to enforce City ordinances. Though they travel in vehicles they are not allowed (unless specifically empowered by a proper agency) to enforce traffic laws. Cecere reported that most of their security are city constables. I do not know presently what powers constables have under state laws beyond serving summonses and eviction notices.
