Captive of Fundamentalist LDS Church, Reveals Criminal Abuses of Children

One troubling lesson from this story is that even after the leader of the religious community was exposed and convicted as a rapist and abuser of children and women, and sentenced to a life in prison, his followers remain obedient to him. He continues to run the community from his jail cell. What does this reveal about humans? Especially humans who worship titles, credentials, and leaders of networks, institutions and political organizations? It reveals that humans must remain vigilant of other humans who may be tempted to abuse their power. It shows how effective propaganda is when used to keep people ignorant of facts that would make they free to exercise their abilities and skills and desires. It is not just religious communities who obey authority figures. Political leaders, corporate leaders, academic and civil rights leaders have all been known to abuse their authority, especially when their civil or criminal abuses may be exposed.
