Arkansas Real Estate Agent Missing, Suspect Arrested

[From article]
Authorities have arrested a man wanted in connection with the disappearance of an Arkansas real estate agent, who was last seen Thursday after going to show a home.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office said Little Rock police arrested 33-year-old Aaron Michael Lewis on Monday morning. Lewis was named in an arrest warrant Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping 49-year-old Beverly Carter.
[. . .]
Carl Carter, her husband, told First Coast News that he received a text from Beverly around 1 a.m. Friday, the morning after her disappearance.
But he said the message didn’t sound like her at all.
"All of a sudden I received three texts in a row. One said 'Yes.'… Then she sent another text that said, 'My phone's low. The battery's down, and I'll call you whenever I get signal.' …And, then, straight back-to-back, I received a text that said 'Oh, I'm out drinking with some friends,'" he told the station. "Beverly's not a drinker…We just want our mom back, and my wife of 35 years…I need her."

Washington State Man Charged With Impersonating Policeman

[From article]
Jim Bailey, a 69-year-old Oak Harbor resident and funeral home worker, is accused of pretending to be a retired cop.
[. . .]
Green said Bailey spent a few years as an Oak Harbor reserve officer in the late 1980s. The chief is convinced Bailey has been pretending to be a retired cop since he left the department in 1991.
[. . .]
He only lasted 2 to 3 weeks at the Police Academy, he did not succeed there, " said Green.
When police arrested Bailey last week, Green said he was surprised by his clothing.
"He was wearing a shirt that identified him as being a member of the Oak Harbor police department," said Green.

US Judge Charged With Domestic Abuse, Battery

[From article]
A federal judge known for sentencing a former Alabama governor to prison in a corruption case was released from an Atlanta jail Monday after he was accused of hitting his wife when she accused him of infidelity.
[. . .]
The report states that Kelli Fuller, 41, 'answered the door in tears' and had visible cuts on her mouth and forehead when police arrived. They later documented bruises on her legs. Kelli Fuller was treated at the hotel by paramedics but refused to be taken to a hospital.
Police say the judge was on the bed when they entered the room, which smelled of alcohol. There was broken glass and hair on the floor. Blood was discovered in the bathroom.
Kelli Fuller told police that her husband became violent after she accused him of having an affair with a law clerk in his Montgomery office. She said he pulled her hair, threw her to the ground and dragged her, kicked her and struck her several times in the face.
Mark Fuller told police that his wife became violent as she confronted him with allegations of cheating. The judge told police he was watching television when his wife threw a drink glass at him. He told officers that he grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground to defend himself.

Updated: Boston DPW Employee Busted For Selling Drugs On Duty; CORI Restrictions Blamed

Posted August 5, 2014 9:10 PM ET; Last updated August 7, 2014 4:21 PM ET

CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) files are maintained by the state of Massachusetts. Under current laws when a person applies for a job employers may not inquire of any record on CORI files. That is the explanation given by Boston city officials why a DPW employee with a lengthy arrest and conviction record was hired. He was arrested in August 2014 for selling illegal drugs while working at his city job. Compare how Mr. Boston DPW was treated, with the arrest of a Cambridge civilian after he filed written complaints to chiefs of police in Cambridge and Somerville in 1990 for police harassment. Cambridge police arrested him and had him held for 78 days contrary to law for a competency evaluation. He fired seven lawyers who were paid to NOT put on a defense to the arrest complaint. After one year that transaction was supposed to be erased from the CORI files. But in 2014, 24 years later it remains and indicates that there are two outstanding charges for the same complaint. It shows how arbitrary state and local government is. That is not to suggest that the White House acts any differently. Ignoring laws and the constitution is a way of life in the United States these days. One policeman in New Jersey actually referred to Obama's lawlessness to justify ignoring his duties.

[From article]
Suspended DPW worker Kenneth Clark, who pleaded not guilty yesterday to dealing heroin out of his work truck, has a rap sheet with some 100 charges that include convictions for armed assault and drug dealing near a school — all of which the city had no clue about when hiring him due to a relaxing of criminal background checks under the Menino administration.
Clark’s public works supervisors never sought a Criminal Offender Record Information report when screening him in 2011 because his job picking up dead animals and sweeping streets was not among the 145 positions — including dog catchers and grave diggers — the city felt required criminal background checks under a stripped-down CORI system adopted by the City Council in 2005.
[. . .]
“Mr. Clark has been indicted five times, five sentences served. He has been arraigned on approximately 42 cases, totaling approximately 100 charges,” prosecutor Michael Callahan told a judge of the Dorchester man’s lengthy record.
According to court records, he was sentenced in 1993 to five to 10 years for assault with a knife, assault with intent to murder and cocaine distribution, as well as a combined 71⁄2 years in 2002 for multiple counts of dealing heroin, including in a school zone. He has also been convicted of assaulting a police officer and unarmed robbery.

Boss Of Tijuana Drug Cartel Busted

[From article]
Founded in the 1980s by Arellano's uncle, Benjamin Arellano Felix, the organisation viturally conrtolled Mexico to US drug-trafficking channels in the 1990s.
He inherited leadership of the cartel from his other uncle, Javier Arellano Felix, who was arrested by the U.S. Coast Guard off Mexico's Baja California in 2006. He was later sentenced to 40 years in federal prison.
Two years after his uncle was captured a renegade lieutenant, Teodoro Garcia Simental, made a power play and set up his own operation.
It prompted a bloodbath that turned Tijuana into one of Mexico's most violent cities, plagued by daytime shootouts, beheadings and mutilated corpses hanging from freeway bridges.

World Famous Arrest Cambridge MA

Image of Cambridge MA Police Sgt. James Crowley who made the world's most famous disorderly conduct arrest in July 2009. when he arrested multi-millionaire tenured Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. The aftermath which was ignored by the media was worse than any alleged abuses during the arrest.
Prof. Gates was not put into a cell. He was held for four hours in an office. His charges were dismissed before arraignment. How many people ever get such VIP treatment? It is an example of the two-tierd system of justice. One for the wealthy and powerful, another for the rest of us.

Cambridge MA Arrest June 15, 2007

On Friday June 15, 2007 at about 8:45 PM near 84 Mass Avenue, Cambridge, MA, the MIT Stratton Student Center, undercover Cambridge police stopped a car driving toward the Mass Avenue Bridge and pulled the driver out of the vehicle. They hand-cuffed the black male driver who was wearing a black suit.
After the few seconds of video you see here one uniformed officer shined a flashlight into my lens and told me to stop taping. I said it was a public event. He said "No it'snot. It's an arrest."
I said "That is a public event." At that point another officer with his badge showing came up to me and asked me to stop taping.
He said "We have some undercover officers. We're trying to be safe." I left the area.
