Technology Gives Terrorists Advantage
Technology Gives Criminals and Terrorists Advantage
"Fox News: The terrorists carried handheld GPS navigators, satellite phones, BlackBerrys and data CDs containing detailed maps and Google Earth images of where they were going." These are are consumer devices that are well-known to most tech savvy citizens. But there are more sophisticated devices using advanced technology which are used for military anti personnel weapons on unsuspecting civilians for nefarious purposes. Unless there is widespread harm journalists ignore these abuses of individuals. Local police are clueless about these technologies and how to curb criminal use on civilians. This story is less than the tip of the iceberg.

Off the Record
During a discussion of the possible appointment of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State by Barack Obama, Mort Zuckerman praises it. He notes that she is qualified and reports previous activity by her with foreign leaders. He notes that she asked questions "off the record." Isn't this accepting two faces by politicians? One for their colleagues, and one for the public? Withholding information from the ordinary citizens politicians treat them like secondary class humans. The politicians prevent ordinary citizens from participating in decision making. This is elitism.

The Cambridge MA Conservation Commission held a hearing on the rehabilitation of the Boston University Bridge on Monday November 17, 2008. The proponent, the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation did not mention the gaggle of white geese who make the meadow aside the BU Bridge their home for 20 years. Nor did they mention any of the other wildlife that occupies that habitat. Cambridge citizens spoke up for the rabbits, geese and other birds.

A group of students pledge allegiance to Barack Obama. I recall in the 1970s when the liberal IVY League lawyers at Harvard took AMTRAK trains to Washington DC to protest abuses of the Nixon administration. Amending Human Rights Ordinance
This is a hearing of the Ordinance Committee of the Cambridge MA City Council held on December 12, 2007, regarding amending the city Human Rights Ordinance. The overt unlawful bias of officials and others with disabilities can be seen by the deceptive statements that the proposed amendment includes persons with non physical disabilities. It did not. It also kept the government entities in the city unaccountable for their violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the MA statute against discrimination based on disability. It shows how little city officials care about the state and US laws. It is one more shameful exercise of power by small-minded Cambridge city officials.

A Cambridge police sergeant reported that she suffered burns on about 25 percent of her body mostly on her arms. She was taken to Mass General Hospital for treatment. No firemen were injured. Cambridge police kept Trowbridge Street between Mass Avenue and Harvard Street closed as late as 12:45 AM Monday. Earlier Harvard Street from Remington Street to Ellery Street was closed. All tenants were displaced for the night. One official reported the tenants would be let into their apartments get some belongings at about midnight.

Visiting Albany New York
Visiting Albany New York during a working autumn day, this footage shows the state capital campus during lunch hour. The pool and modern buildings, Empire State Plaza, were constructed by former Governor Nelson Rockefeller. Most striking is the Egg which is shown from a few perspectives. The view looking east indicates the grandeur of the state. The capital building is being renovated and looks like the state house in Boston, Massachusetts. Inside it is more luxurious and better maintained than the state house in Boston. State Street is a busy street with restaurants and office buildings. The area around the capital has numerous statues and markers noting the historical contributions of Albany and men born in the city. Are they called Albanians?
Antrim Mennonite Choir Albany, NY
A choir from the Mennonite Church stood on the sidewalk in Albany, New York on busy State Street below the capital campus singing hymms. I captured them on video September 10, 2008 during a visit to the state capital. They publish a CD called "Amazing Grace." This choir is likely from churches in Shaftsbury, Vermont and Russell, New York.

Harvard University Marching Band Practice
Returning from a trip to New York State at about 9:30 PM on September 11, 2008, I saw a group of Harvard University Marching Band members playing on the "overpass," in front of the Science Center on the Harvard campus. I had no thought they they were serenading me. I am not an elected official. That piece of land is owned by the City of Cambridge but is "administered" by Harvard. Many Harvard faculty members, administrators and students and some of Harvard's police officers, think that Harvard owns the land because they use it for university functions all year. In this case they had no permit to have a concert, and it was after 9:00 PM the hour noisy work is banned in the city. But these are Harvard people who have no obligations to others. You can see one of the band leaders give me a look as I filmed him.
Cambridge Hygiene Lacking
Cambridge, MA politicians, having little power and less self esteem, boast of awards they get. Best walking city, most accessible city, Triple A Bond Rating. They believe that Cambridge is a city always on the cutting edge due to being the host city for Harvard University, several biotech firms, and MIT. They ignore their lack of focus on hygiene by its medical professionals and its residents. They do not care that 90,000 Americans die each year due to negligence by medical professionals, some of which is simply not washing their hands between patients. For many years new residents lament the growing number and size of the rodent population. This is solely a result of sloppiness by people in the city who do not keep the streets clean. Lately they blame people who come to Cambridge who do not live in the city. Here are two brief video clips showing how grocery stores in Hagerstown, Maryland, and Kingston, NY provide hand wipes for patrons free to use to clean the shopping cart handles and the children's seats. No market in Cambridge provides hygienic cleaners.

Obama and Discrimination
This is a review of one episode of Greater Boston broadcast on WGBH-TV the Boston PBS station. Emily Rooney, the host, demands that her shows be debates even when there is only one side doing the debating. Ahem! In this show from sometime in July 2008 she had four people who appeared to be supporters of Barack Obama. The issue was discrimination based on race in the race for president. My comments are inserted among clips of the show. The comment by Monica Crowley is from another PBS show.
Ken Reeves is a 18-year City Councilor with a Bachelor's degree from Harvard College and a law degree from University of Michigan Law School. He is from Detroit but lives in a house worth more than $1 million less than a mile from Harvard University. He is by all means a successful man. Barack Obama has a Bachelor's degree from Columbia College, and a law degree from Harvard Law School. They are both politicians.

Mexican Navy Seizes 6 Tons of Cocaine on Submarine
Mexican navy seizes cocaine sub
BBC
July 18, 2008
More than 250 packages of drugs were found in the sumbarine
The Mexican navy says it has seized nearly six tonnes of cocaine found inside a 10m-long (31ft) makeshift submarine in the Pacific Ocean.
A naval spokesman said they had known about such submarines but this was the first time they had seen one. US intelligence helped in the operation.
Four Colombian crew members have been taken into custody.
In a separate development Mexico's army seized at least 12 tonnes of marijuana in the city of Tijuana.
The haul is the largest since President Felipe Calderon sent thousands of troops to the region along the border with the US.
US help
The submarine had been carrying its cargo from Colombia towards the coast of Mexico when it was intercepted on Wednesday. It took the navy two days to tow it to shore.
Packages believed to contain cocaine
The cocaine was inside sealed packages on board the sub
The US Homeland Security Secretary, Michael Chertoff, revealed on Friday that US intelligence had led Mexican forces to the submarine.
"We shared information with the Mexican navy, but the Mexican navy acted alone. It was actually their seizure, their marines, their helicopters and naval vessels that captured the submarine," Mr Chertoff said on a visit to Mexico City.
Mexican Vice-Admiral Jose Maria Ortegon Cisneros said that the drugs were in 257 packages wrapped in black plastic.
He said that the submarine was equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) and a compass.
"This is going to force us to intensify our aerial surveillance, because the freeboard (distance from the deck to the water) of this sub is not detected by radars or any type of electronic detection device," he told reporters in Salina Cruz in the state of Oaxaca.
"Four people were detained. Based on their statements they say they left from Colombia. They did not specify from what port. Three of them are from Buenaventura and the other from a town in the centre of Colombia."
He added that the navy had stepped up patrols in the area where the sub was seized.
The crew claimed to be fishermen forced by drug cartels to move the cargo, said Vice Admiral Cisneros. They said they had sailed from Colombia about a week ago.
'Symbolic' victory
Meanwhile, the 12 tonnes of marijuana seized in the border city of Tijuana was the single biggest haul of the drug since President Felipe Calderon sent more than 25,000 troops to the region last year to tackle trafficking.
Officials said that about three tonnes of the drug were found in a stolen car on Thursday while the rest was discovered on Friday.
So far in 2008 the Mexican army says it has confiscated more than 500 tonnes of marijuana in the state of Baja California alone.
Mr Calderon came to power in 2007 promising to rid Mexico of organised and drug-related crime.
But the BBC's Americas editor, Emilio San Pedro, says that despite celebrations at the military barracks in Tijuana, this seizure - no matter how large - is mostly a symbolic victory as it is far from a death blow to the cartel bosses.
Authorities say the traffickers are extremely organised and far from willing to give up their lucrative enterprise, which earns them tens of millions of dollars every year.

Vigil for Esmin Green
When Ms. Esmin Elizabeth Green died horrifically in a psychiatric
emergency room in New York, security camera footage was broadcast
internationally. A vigil and demonstration is planned, which
MindFreedom International fully supports and co-sponsors.

WE THE PEOPLE Call for an End of Abuse, Torture, and Neglect in the
Wake of Ms. Green's Death While Detained at Kings County Hospital
Center's Psychiatric Emergency Room.
Advocates, human rights activists, and community members are holding
a vigil and demonstration to mourn the death of Ms. Esmin Elizabeth
Green. WE the PEOPLE are calling attention to the reported horrific
inactions and complete neglect that Ms. Green was subjected to while
detained at the Kings County Hospital Center's Psychiatric Emergency
Room, 451 Clarkson Avenue Brooklyn, New York 11203.
According to the Associated Press, after being involuntarily
committed to the institution, Ms. Green sat waiting for a bed to
become available for nearly 24 hours before she collapsed on to the
floor. She lay there helpless for nearly an hour until she received
medical attention, which came too late[i]. Further, according to the
New York Civil Liberties Union, facility staff possibly falsified
documents, stating that Ms. Green was "up and went to the bathroom"
and was "'sitting quietly in the waiting room' - more than 10 minutes
after she last moved"[ii]. The surveillance tape shown on CNN Video
portrays Ms. Green dying on the floor as people pass her by[iii]. In
fact, on the Internet, one can find a mass of comment on this tragedy
by individuals all over the world - a question repeatedly asked,
"Where is the humanity?"
All people must be treated with dignity, humanity, and respect. We
must not tolerate violations of human rights that individuals who are
assigned psychiatric labels often endure.
We ask you, wouldn't you be depressed and possibly even 'agitated' if
you were going to lose your home and employment? Reportedly, this is
what led to Ms. Green's commitment[iv]. Any one of us could be
labeled with a psychiatric diagnosis and subjected to inhumane
'treatment' if we are thought to be 'agitated', particularly if we
are poor.
How many more people labeled with "mental illness" will be subjected
to torture and neglect before something is done to protect human
rights within psychiatric systems? David Oaks, Executive Director of
MindFreedom International states, "I encourage us all to reflect on
the need for a deep nonviolent revolution in the field of mental
health, far beyond the "reforms" that have gotten us to where we are
today, with televised death via neglect of a mother of six".
In 1875, a New York Times article cites abuses of inmates at the
Kings County Asylum, spurred by Mr. Nelson Magee, a former inmate.
Then-Commissioner Norris reacts to the investigation, "This sort of
thing is very common among lunatics; they are always imagining
themselves in great danger of being killed by their keepers"v. How
many more centuries have to go by before action is taken to end these
abuses and neglect?
WE the PEOPLE stand for change. We have been abused by the
psychiatric system. Our brothers and sisters continue to be abused
and murdered, as evidenced by Ms. Green's untimely demise. Massive
human rights violations happen every day in psychiatric institutions
but this horrific inaction was captured on videotape. We will call
attention to the every day tortures committed in the name of
psychiatric "help" including diagnosing life's challenges as
''illness," forced pharmaceuticals, restraint, seclusion, and
electric shock treatment (ECT) with a Vigil to honor Ms. Green's
memory beginning at 2 PM.
There are many questions as to what led to Ms. Green's death. Was it
in any way related to the toxic and debilitating drugs that people
labeled with "mental illness" are intimidated, coerced, and forced
into taking? A thorough investigation is necessary to determine the
extent of the torture, ill treatment and other human rights
violations involved in this case and in the practices of the
institution as a whole. We must stand united to demand social
justice, equal rights, and environments free from torture and detention.
On July 25, 2008, we invite all people to join us and stand united in
support of the demand that everyone receive the full benefit of their
human rights and the preservation of their liberty, dignity and respect.
Who: All People.
What: Candle Light Vigil to mourn the loss of Ms. Esmin Elizabeth
Green and condemn violations of human rights.
Why: WE THE PEOPLE call for an end of abuse, torture, and neglect in
the wake of Ms. Green's Death on June 19, 2008, while detained at
Kings County Hospital Center's Psychiatric Emergency Room.
Where: Kings County Hospital Center, Psychiatric Emergency Room,
Building G. 606 Winthrop Street Brooklyn, NY 11203
Date: July 25, 2008
Time: 5 PM - 10 PM, Candle Light Vigil, 8:30 PM

individual endorser of this effort. If you would like to speak at

Although Christian hadn't been seen for months, he appeared at the Kora Reserve the night before Ace & John arrived in Africa.
"Christian arrived last night, " George said simply. "He's here with his lionesses and his cubs. He's outside the camp on his favourite rock. He's waiting for you."
Both George & Joy Adamson believed that lions were possessed of a sixth sense and George was convinced that a scientific explanation would one day be found.
Christian left the Kora Reserve in 1973. He made his new territory along the Tana river, but when the Wakamba herdsmen kept bringing their livestock to his hunting ground, he moved on. George Adamson said in his autobiography, "I used to count the days on which we hadn't seen Christian, but when they reached 97, I gave up recording them in my diary." Because a lion can live from 12 to 15 years in the wild, Adamson believed that Christian ended his days in the Meru National Reserve only a few miles up river.

The Rumbler
In this clip from FOX25 News Boston Molly Line shows the use of "The Rumbler," a low frequency sound device by Boston Police to complement their sirens. They are used to alert motorists that the police are on an emergency call. The same kind of technology is being used as electrical harassment weapons by corporations, organized crime and other interested parties to discredit and to disable their critics, and unpopular persons in general. Mass state law prohibits possession of such devices for non law enforcement purposes. See Mass General Laws Chapter 140, Section 131 J.

Harvard Trims Loudly
Harvard University landscape contractor uses hand-held gas-powered hedge trimmer. This device was not included in the recent amendment to the noise ordinance for Cambridge, MA. It makes as much noise as a leaf blower, but the elected geniuses of the Cambridge City Council failed to make policy to protect residents from excessive noise. Instead they gave up their policy-making power to the City Manager who's policy is what the landscaping industry wants. Listen to this. I was unable to capture the gas fumes on video tape that came in through the windows to share with you.
